For years Vang Vieng Laos had been a famous river and canyon river sports and wild day dance party destination village in southeast asia.
Previously Vang Vieng had so many safety problems and lack of management that the government shut it down.
Gone for now is the wild river day dance and the Vang Vieng is again slumbering in the warm tropical sun.
population longs for the economy of its wild party days
but with increased safety with active management for
such outstanding international event.
They have such successful events at Kazantip Ukraine and on Ibiza Island in Spain. Perhaps Vang Vieng wants to follow in those successful economic footsteps?
Really it is only just the management of the proper party bar that that they need in Vang Vieng, just outdoors and on a river.
Do not let a drunken customer go on the river, put them on a tuktuk back to town is the most simple basic solution.
bars are hidden down the river out of sight and the safety problems remain for
the day dance
on the river. The wild day dance and river party in Vang Vieng are just out of sight out of mind now, lurking for a new disaster in the future.
How many young drunken kids have to die before the institute the proper safety measures?
The river party is MAX fun and a good economy for the town, why not manage it properly?

another story begins......
I was on my way to find the Grand Canyon of Laos, when I stopped over night at the junction of the turn off to the Laos Grand Canyon, to rest for a day or two.
I told my
father that I was staying in a small hotel fronting on a beautiful river. As
an avid fisherman, he told me to make sure to go fishing.
After a few days I told him I did not want to "murder any of the fish," but would
photograph the imported colorful Koi" if he liked? He gave me the go ahead.
So here are some photographs of a very rare and unique canyon and it's highly endangered Koi fish.
So what is
your opinion? Should I photograph this special environment for a while longer or
take off and find the "Grand Canyon Laos"
which is just on the other side of the mountain in the first and last photo's?
Now after spending many months in Vang Vieng Laos we are seeking to work on the image improvement of the village by doing more photography of the wonderful nature there, the many eco-tourism opportunities as well as develop a river safety program to enhance the enjoyment of all river tubers and other water sport enthusiast!
still have not found the "Grand Canyon of Laos" but I will keep on trying not to
be distracted from
my serious work and well...just carry on when I get around to it...
